Jon and Carrie Lewis Online

About

Moody and playful, Jon and Carrie have been making music together since the fall of 1999, when they played each other some of their original songs on their first date in college. Their deep friendship and love is evident in their intuitive harmonies and their interesting mix of styles. Classically trained, Carrie’s piano-driven soulful ballads combine with Jon’s acoustic guitar-driven bluesy folk-rock for a sound that is rich and varied. Their versatility enables them to play a variety of shows: sometimes with their band, sometimes solo. Look for them at a coffee shop, art café, festival, conference, wedding, children’s birthday party, restaurant, college campus, or church near you!

Their self titled EP Jon & Carrie was released in 2006, and features a sampling of the duo’s original songs about love, loss, and life.

2008 was a banner year for the Lewis’s as they gave birth to a son and released their second CD. Entitled {here}, the CD features Jon and Carrie’s faith songs, and showcases the less mellow side of the duo.

Both cds have been well received locally and internationally, garnering air time on Shine Your Light Radio in Baltimore MD, Lead Me To The Rock Radio in California, Revival 100.8 FM in Scotland UK, Belize Christian Radio 101 FM in Belize, and Indie Christian Radio. Jon & Carrie have been featured in The Frederick News Post and The Hagerstown Herald Mail newspapers, as well as Find It Frederick and Paradox magazines.  They have performed on the T.V. show, Back Stage Pass, and were among the top ten finalists in the national song writing contest, GodSong.

“We write because we have to; that we enjoy writing and performing is quite the bonus! We have a hopeful take on life, which infuses our music, and we love making people question and think with us through song. and... we hope you like how it sounds, too!”

Quotes about Jon and Carrie

"Listening to Jon & Carrie is like going to three different concerts at the same time. At once gentle & introspective aka The Swell Season, to percussive energy like a modern day Who, then contemporary folk ballads that beg for a cup of tea and a crackling fireplace. Well-seasoned music from two rising stars."

“The beauty of her breathy voice and effortless movements across the keyboard complement the meaningful strums of his guitar and smooth tone.” (this is taken from ‘Find It Frederick Magazine’)

“There's a genuine warmness that infuses Jon & Carrie Lewis’ songs.”

Bill D’Agostino, Frederick News Post

“Jon and Carrie Lewis have blessed our campus twice and each time our students walk away more energized and exuberant, having not just listened to some fun, rocking, soulful, and inspirational music, but also having worship our God alongside an amazingly talented couple.  Jon and Carrie are a definite favorite!”

-Jonathan Strayer, Director of Student Activities
Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania

”J&C have always been that dependable couple when we’ve had them in to ‘lead’ us in worship.  They lead with a pure desire to sense and experience the presence of God through music and song and that’s attractive.  When they lead worship for us it’s so much more than a night at the coffee shop.  Whenever they come to lead our group at Celebrate Recovery, we know it’ll be ‘worship’ and not a concert – and there’s a big difference.”

Dave Dent – Pastor of Uniontown Bible Church, Celebrate Recovery Ministry Leader

We have been blessed to have had Jon and Carrie Lewis lead worship numerous times.  It is tremendous to see a couple completely dedicated to serving the Lord using the amazing talents that He has given them.  Jon and Carrie easily connect with the congregation and help to establish an atmosphere of true worship, all while focusing on the King of Kings.  We are always thrilled when they come back and we invite them to do so on a regular basis.
